Pixi x Dulce Candy Palettes: Review and Swatches

This spring, Pixi Beauty collaborated with three youtubers to create their Pixi Pretties collection. Chloe Morello, Weylie, and Dulce Candy each created two products with the brand. To promote this collection, Pixi had a giveaway where 3 winners got the chance to travel to LA and meet their favourite Pixi Pretty! Amazingly, I won and was able to visit Pixi’s Venice Beach Flagship boutique and meet Dulce Candy! You can read about that experience here. While at the boutique, they gifted me with the entire #PixiPretties collection and Dulce even signed her palettes for me!

Since I got home, I have been using these products non-stop, especially Dulce’s palettes: Café con Dulce and Dulce’s Lip Candy. Here is a review of these two products as well as swatches!

Pixi x Dulce Candy Palette Reviews

Café con Dulce Review & Swatches

I absolutely love this palette. It is amazing because it is so versatile! You can use it as eyeshadow, highlighter, blush, and even bronzer. The formula is really unique. It is a powder, but it feels and applies almost as a cream. The way the apply reminds me of the Colourpop Super Shock formula. It is ultra pigmented and really makes you glow! The palette includes 9 shades ranging from champagne to peach to pink and bronze. I think it is great for travelling because it can do so many things! It applies very well with your fingers or with a synthetic brush for either face or eyes. A synthetic duo-fibre brush is my favourite to stipple and diffuse the pinks and bronzes on the cheeks. I prefer using my fingers to apply as eyeshadow or highlighter.

Swatches in indoor lighting (left) and in sunlight (right) from top to bottom: Brilliante, Dulce, Caramelo, Piruli, Pan Dulce, Estrella, Bon-Bon, Tamarindo, and Morenita.

My favourite shade from the Café con Dulce palette is Tamarindo, a rosy-bronze that looks amazing as a one-and-one wash of shimmer on the eyes!

Dulce’s Lip Candy Review and Swatches

The second item that she created with Pixi is a palette of cream lipsticks. The formula is soft and silky with a light vanilla scent. They apply semi-sheer and can be built up to a bolder, more full coverage. The amazing part about this cream formula is that is can also be applied to the cheeks as a blush! I find these apply best with your fingers so that you can warm up the product and really melt it into the skin. If you are using it on the lips, using a synthetic lip brush is great for a more precise and pigmented application. When I was at the Pixi Boutique in LA, the Pixi makeup artist even mixed the product into some gloss for a sheer, shiny lipstick.

Swatches in indoor lighting (left) and in sunlight (right) from top to bottom: Fresa, Sirena, Alma, Flor, Pasion, Enamorada, Corazon, Beso, Canela.

My favourite shade from Dulce’s Lip Candy palette is Sirena, a peachy-coral and the only shade in the palette with a hint of shimmer. Looks amazing on the cheeks and the lips!

Makeup Look using the Pixi x Dulce Candy Palettes

Pixi x Dulce Candy Makeup Look

Here is a makeup look created by artist Oliva at the Pixi Beauty boutique in LA when I went for my meet and greet with Dulce herself! She used the Café con Dulce palette on my eyes, with Brillante and Dulce on my lid and Tamarindo and Morenita throughout the crease and outer V. Brillante was also used as a highlight on the face and Pan Dulce on the cheeks as blush. On my lips, she mixed Flor and Passion with some gloss for a custom look.

I love that Dulce really took the time to make palettes that not only capture her spirit and shades she would use, but that are multi-use and multi-tasking formulas. I would definitely recommend these two palettes. I think they include a nice range of shades that are very wearable and suitable for everyday looks. The wide range of undertones in both the Café con Dulce and Dulce’s Lip Candy palettes are also flattering on a wide range of skin tones.

Have you tried the Pixi x Dulce Candy palettes? Which one is your favourite?
