The theme of this month’s glam bag was “selfie with no filter”. All of the products curated for the August bags help you to achieve a flawless, effortless glow, without the need for a filter! Good-for-you skincare ingredients and cosmetics to enhance your natural glow were the stars of August’s glam bag. The bag itself is an orange cotton canvas, with yellow piping around the border and a yellow zipper with a tassle. It’s bright colour to helps to capture the last glow of summer! My glam bag arrived pretty late this month, I got the shipping notification on Aug 3rd and it didn’t arrive until the 22nd.

1. Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick

I have been wanting to try this lipstick for a long time, so I was really glad to receive this in my glam bag. I was sent the full sized lipstick in the shade Trophy Wife, which is a mid-toned rose with brown undertones (swatch below). This shade is so *me*, it’s totally my kind of colour. The formula is pretty nice. It dries down completely so that it is transfer-proof, but it doesn’t get that dry, chalky feeling. It is pretty moisturizing for a liquid matte, it was comfortable to wear. This lipstick retails at Sephora for $26 CAD, covering the cost of the glam bag alone.

2. Ciaté Glow-To Highlighter

I was also sent the Glow-To Highlighter by Ciaté in the shade Moondust. It is a pink champagne shade with multidimensional glitter reflects (swatch above). Quite pretty! The highlighter came in a pan, without its own packaging. I was excited to pop this into my magnetic palette, but then I noticed the pan itself was made of plastic, so this would not be possible. I do like the product so I wish it came in either a metal pan or with better quality, protective packaging. I think I will glue a magnet on the bottom for use in my palette, since the packaging is the main drawback of this product. The full size product retails for $38 CAD at Sephora for 5 g of product. This deluxe size contains 1.5 g of product and has an estimated value of $11.40 CAD.

3. Tony Moly The Black Tea London Classic Serum

The next product is a serum from Korean skincare brand Tony Moly. I have heard many great things about this brand, but this is the first product I have tried from them. The serum is loaded with antioxidants from black tea extract, and also contains niacinimide and tea tree oil. It has a pleasant scent of Earl Grey tea (black tea and bergamot). The texture of the product is really nice, it feels like a gel, but thins out to an almost water-like texture once rubbed in. It absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave a sticky feeling. The full sized serum is 55 ml and is available on the Tony Moly website for $43.00 USD (~$55 CAD). I was sent a 10 ml deluxe sample, an approximate value of $10 CAD.

4. Billion Dollar Brows Mini Universal Brow Pencil

Since my brows are very dark, I usually steer clear of “universal” products. I was actually surprised by how dark this one was, however it was still too light and too warm for my liking (similar to Benefit’s shade #4). I don’t like when you can tell the difference between the brow hairs and the makeup on my skin. The product itself was pretty creamy, which is not my favourite for a brow pencil because it applies too thick-looking in my opinion. I can’t see myself repurchasing this in the future. The mini pencil retails on their webiste for $10 USD (~$13 CAD).

5. Lab for You Juice Up Sheet Masks

I received two sheet masks in the Kale and Blackberry varieties. The masks are made out of tencel fabric to help promote deeper absorption of the essence. The Kale mask is aimed to calm the skin and reduce redness, while the Blackberry mask is meant to soothe and revitalize tired, dull skin. I have only tried the blackberry mask so far, I found it to be hydrating, and it tingled on the skin. Pumpkin and Tomato varieties are also available on the brand’s website. The masks are sold in 5-packs for $9 USD (~$11.50 CAD), so the two masks have an approximate value of $4.60 CAD.

Final Thoughts

Overall this was a pretty good glam bag! The only product I was not a fan of was the eyebrow pencil. I was really happy to finally try the Huda lipstick and was lucky to get the exact shade I had been coveting! In total, this month’s bag had a value of ~$65 CAD.
