Summer Fridays can do no wrong when it comes to lip products, in my opinion. I mean… I feel that way when it comes to their launches in general. I can’t remember a launch that was a miss for me. And what I really love about the brand is that they take feedback from their community to improve existing products as well as developing new ones, whether it be in the formula or packaging.
The Dream Lip Oils launched on January 18th, 2024, and there was early access on the Sephora app. I ordered these IMMEDIATELY! It’s been about a week or so of my using them so I wanted to share my review.

The Summer Fridays Dream Lip Oils come in 4 shades: Pink Cloud, Blush Dreams, Soft Mauve, and Rosewood Nights. I picked up Blush Dreams and Soft Mauve, the two rosy-nude mid-tone shades. These two shades are very similar, with Blush Dreams being a warmer rose and Soft Mauve being a cooler shade with a taupe undertone. On my lips they aren’t remarkably different enough to justify having both, so I may exchange one for Rosewood Nights, to be honest.

Summer Fridays Dream Lip Oil Formula Review
The formula is lovely. It is a nourishing blend of 9 plant oils including squalane, castor, shea, avacado, apricot, jojoba, grape seed, raspberry seed, and dog-rose oils, as well as vitamin E. It is a little thicker than most lip oils I’ve tried, but thinner than their Lip Butter Balm formula. It gives a high gloss shine with sheer but buildable pigment. It has a large doe-foot applicator for a precise application, but i have noticed that a lot of product comes out of the component when you dip it in to the oil.
How do the Summer Fridays Dream Lip Oils compare to the Lip Butter Balms?
This formula is thinner than the lip butter balm, so I would say the Dream oil is a nourishing tinted lip gloss, where the Lip Butter Balm is a tinted nourishing balm. The main difference being that the Lip Butter Balm is going to give you a more long lasting deep conditioning. The Dream oil will be a comfortable wearing lip oil, but I didn’t find the effects to last as long as they do with my Lip Butter Balms once the product wore off my lips. The Dream Lip Oils come in 4 shades, and the Lip Butter Balms currently come in 7 shades/flavours. That’s another difference too – the Dream lip oils are unscented and unflavoured with just a hint of a soft minty tingle, where the Lip Butter Balms are each flavoured to match their tint and have no tingly effect. The lip butter balms are also slightly cheaper, by a couple dollars. Read more about the Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balms here.
How to wear the Summer Fridays Dream Lip Oil
The combination I have been loving is using my beloved Whirl lip liner from Mac with the Soft Mauve Dream Oil. It’s subtle, fresh, glossy, and comfy. Gives you a perfect finishing touch to your makeup without looking too “done up”. The video below is a TikTok I recently posted using this lip combo so you can see the effect.
The Dream Lip Oils retail for $26 USD or $35 CAD and are available at SummerFridays.com and at Sephora.
