Hot off the press!
Images of the new Drunk Elephant Retinol product are starting to be released around the internet (thanks to @myskincarechronicles for tipping me off 🙂 ). This has been a long anticipated addition to the Drunk Elephant skincare line. We all know my obsession with the brand is real, but in case you didn’t, here are some of my other posts mentioning them. I also talk about how the brand’s philosophy resonates with me as a researcher in a podcast episode that you can listen to here.
What is retinol? Retinol is a is a form of Vitamin A used in skincare to resurface the skin by enhancing skin renewal. It also helps to stimulate collagen production. Retinol does not chemically exfoliate the skin like AHAs and BHAs, rather it is a powerful antioxidant that boosts the activity of skin cells.
A-Passioni follows the branding of the Drunk Elephant products with a white component accented with a raspberry red pop of colour. The product packaging format looks similar to the Umbra line of sunscreens, in that it comes in a squeezable tube with a twist-off cap. Athough unlike the plastic tube that houses Umbra, A-Passioni is in a metal tube similar to an ointment (thanks to Kim @sortofscientific for that info!).
The product contains 1% pure vegan retinol (Vitamin A) that is supported by superfood extracts like passionfruit (which is where I think the name comes from 😉 ), apricot, kale, and winter cherry. It also contains peptides and fatty acids to strengthen the skin, and of course is free of the brand’s Suspicious 6 ingredients like silicones, essential oils, fragrance, and dyes.
True to Drunk Elephant, the product can be mixed into skincare smoothies along with your other DE faves. It appears to have a creamy, balmy texture (see below). They suggest to mix it with C Firma in the day to boost the retinol’s superpowers (always topped with sunscreen of course), or alternated with TLC Framboos at night.
Drunk Elephant has confirmed the release dates on their instagram page. A-Passioni Retinol Cream will launch on December 26th, 2018 at the following retailers: Sephora US, Sephora Canada, Sephora Singapore, and Cult Beauty in the UK.
Do you love Drunk Elephant skincare? Is this a product you will add into your routine?
