Once again, the skincare community is abuzz with news of a new product launch from cult-favourite Drunk Elephant. I will be gathering new information as it is released and updating this post as needed.
Slaai Makeup Melting Butter Cleanser is a new product for Drunk Elephant and is a solid cleansing balm. This is a product that I have seen requested many times in the comment section of Drunk Elephant posts. This product would be a first cleanse in a double cleansing routine. It is a solid formula that turns to a balmy oil upon application to melt off traces of makeup and sunscreen. It contains a blend of kiwi and strawberry seed extracts and Drunk Elephant’s signature ingredient, virgin marula oil.

The directions on the box state to apply the balm to a dry face with dry hands, and use some water to massage and activate the product, before rinsing off. You can also use a washcloth to wipe the product clean. Since this is meant as a first cleanse, you can follow up your night time ritual with one of Drunk Elephant’s existing cleansers; either the Beste Jelly Cleanser or the Peeke Bar.
What’s even more exciting about this launch is that it also comes with a second new product, the Bamboo Booster! The Bamboo Booster is a paste containing bamboo particles that can be added to the Slaai Cleansing Balm to add some exfoliation to the treatment. Drunk Elephant recommends using this only 1-2 times per week, in the morning. When using Slaai in the morning, it can be used as a single cleanse, as to not disrupt the skin’s moisture barrier, in-line with the brand’s suggested “water wash” for the morning routine.

Slaai is housed in Drunk Elephant’s signature white packaging with a rich green lid. The balm also comes with a magnetic spatula that sticks to the lid so that you never misplace it!
The Slaai Cleansing Balm and included Bamboo Booster, will be priced at $42 CAD, $34 USD and will launch on March 29th. It will be available for purchase at Sephora and on DrunkElephant.com.
So excited for this one!
I think solid cleansing balms are interesting, but Drunk Elephant is just so pricey! Maybe one day I’ll try it 😀

DE is definitely a luxury brand and is priced that way, but compared to other cleansing balms at Sephora is it’s actually priced pretty on par at $42 Cad. The Clinique and Estée Lauder balms are 39$ Cad. Farmacy’s Green Clean, which is probably the most popular cleansing balm in the Green Beauty Category is $44 for 90g, while Drunk Elephant’s Slaai is $42 for 110g. The brand has mentioned that this size should give you 110 uses and you should get ~80 uses from the included bamboo booster. To be honest, it’s priced a lot better than I expected!
