Woah, this is huge!! I think I’ve found my perfect cleansing balm…
The Glow Recipe Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm is so lovely! It is made with 3 types of papaya to harness the benefits of this superfood – papaya extract, papaya seed oil, and papaya enzymes. Papaya is rich in fatty acids and vitamins A, C, and E, which help to smooth and brighten the skin. The product texture is a delightful hybrid of a cleansing balm and sorbet – richer than Farmacy’s Green Clean, but not as rich as Drunk Elephant’s Slaai (review here). It glides over the skin like butter and spreads easily, so you really don’t need to use a lot. Oh, and while it’s fragrance-free, the fruit extracts give this cleansing balm a lovely tropical scent that reminds me of a Lip Smackers balm I used to have.

What I love most about it is that it acts like a dual-phase cleanser. At first, it instantly melts down into an oil texture, but once you add a bit of water and massage your skin, it actually emulsifies into a thicker, creamy cleanser. Most balms I’ve tried just wash away at the appearance of water. I’ve seen some reviews that say it’s difficult to wash off, but when you treat the emulsification as it’s own proper step, it rinses away easily right after.
The best part about it is that it DOES NOT IRRITATE OR BLUR MY EYES. Even when I’m taking off heavy duty mascara. I was worried that the papaya enzymes, which are a natural exfoliant, may sting my eyes, but that is not the case at all.
The Papaya Sorbet Cleansing Balm is vegan, cruelty-free, and free of PEG, parabens, mineral oil, sulfates, silicones, phthalates, drying alcohols, synthetic dyes, and fragrance.
Overall, I’m super impressed with it and will definitely be repurchasing! Papaya sorbet retails for $42 CAD/$32 USD. It is available directly from Glow Recipe and from Sephora.
I’m curious, do you have a HG cleansing balm or are you still searching for the perfect one?

I’m still in search of a holy grail cleansing balm. It’s hard to find one that doesn’t have essential oils and fragrance.
